Prevent Policy

Birmingham Security College is committed to upholding the principles of the UK government’s Prevent strategy. This policy is designed to prevent individuals from being drawn into terrorism or supporting extremist ideologies. As part of this commitment, we have implemented the following Prevent policy:

as a valuable form of feedback about its services. We are committed to using the information we receive to help drive forward improvements.

This procedure outlines the aims of Birmingham Security College in dealing with complaints and sets

out what you as the customer can expect when making a complaint regarding a service.

A complaint is a way of letting us know that you are not happy with a particular service. We welcome your feedback. A complaint may be about delay, lack of response, discourtesy, failure to consult or about the standard of service you have received.

So please let us know if:

  • you think we have done something wrong
  • we have not done something that we said we would do
  • you are not satisfied with a particular service or set of services that we provide

Awareness and Training

All staff members at Birmingham Security College are trained to be aware of the signs of radicalisation and extremism. We also provide regular training to our students on the importance of Prevent and how to report any concerns they may have.

If you do not provide us with a contact name or address, it will not be possible for us to get back to you with the outcome of the investigation

Referral Process

If a student or staff member at Birmingham Security College has concerns about the behaviour of an individual that may indicate they are vulnerable to being drawn into extremism, they should report these concerns to the Designated Prevent Lead. Our Designated Prevent Lead is trained to assess these concerns and determine whether further action is required.

Birmingham Security College will only consider requests for Reasonable Adjustments and Special

Considerations submitted within a timely manner and have completed the appropriate paperwork for these requests.

Confidentiality

All reports made to the Designated Prevent Lead are treated with the utmost confidentiality. We will not disclose the identity of the person who has made the report, unless we are required to do so by law.

Equality and Diversity

We believe that everyone has the right to be treated with respect and dignity. We will not discriminate against anyone on the basis of their race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or any other characteristic.

Partnership Working

We work closely with local authorities and other organisations to promote community cohesion and prevent extremism. We also provide advice and support to our students and staff on how to engage with their local communities and promote social inclusion.
